Derek Chen is a global investment-grade desk quant associate in the Fixed Income Division. He directly supports the Global Credit Strategy; however, his work has a potential impact on the US Investment Grade Corporate Bond Strategy and other multi-sector strategies. Derek is a vice president of T. Rowe Price Group, Inc., and T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc.

Derek's investment experience began in 2008, and he has been with T. Rowe Price since 2019, beginning in the Fixed Income Quantitative department. Prior to this, Derek was employed by Goldman Sachs Asset Management in the areas of fixed income research and portfolio construction. Derek also was a senior quantitative research analyst with Standish Mellon Asset Management, specializing in global macro strategy and structured credit derivatives. 

Derek earned a B.A., honors, in economics from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst; an M.S.C.F. from Carnegie Mellon University, Tepper School of Business; and an M.B.A. in economics, finance, and econometrics from The University of Chicago, Booth School of Business. Derek also has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst^® and Financial Risk Manager designations.
