Cookie Policy

This policy is provided by the T. Rowe Price family of companies, including its subsidiaries and affiliates, to give you information about the use of cookies and similar technologies on our digital properties, such as our websites, mobile applications, or emails. This policy applies to interactions with the T. Rowe Price family of companies unless you are interacting with us in relation to a product, service, subsidiary, affiliate, or digital property for which a separate cookie policy (or provisions about cookies in a separate privacy notice or policy) applies.1

Cookies and similar technologies—such as web beacons, local storage, tags, and pixels—are small text, graphics files or other technologies that are placed on your computer or other device when you visit our digital properties or receive our digital content. For ease, we refer to all of these technologies as “cookies.”  Cookies are widely used for various reasons, such as allowing a website to work efficiently and to collect information about you and your online preferences.

Please remember that cookies are often used to enable and improve certain functions on our digital properties and, if you choose to switch certain cookies off, it is likely to affect how our digital content works. For example, if your browser is set to disable or not accept cookies, some content may not be available, or you will not be able to log in. For more information, please see the “Managing cookies” section below.

1 For example, certain of our affiliated companies, such as those whose names include “Oak Hill Advisors” or “OHA,” have their own policies regarding cookies that may apply to you when you are interacting with their digital content.

Types of Cookies

The types of cookies we use fall into the following general categories:

  • Essential cookies. These cookies are necessary for our digital properties to operate, such as a website of ours that you wish to visit and cannot be switched off in our systems. For example, they are needed for us to offer drop-down lists so that you can pick your country and the specific website you wish to visit, to know that you have logged in, or to find where you can complete a form online.  Without these cookies, we would not be able to provide you with services like enabling appropriate content based on your type of device.
  • Performance cookies. These cookies allow us to understand how our digital properties are used. They collect information, such as how many visitors we have, what areas of our digital properties are accessed, how visitors move around within the digital content, whether they receive error messages, and if electronic communications we send are opened or links within the communications are clicked on. This information helps us measure and improve the performance of our digital properties, for example, by making changes to improve navigation.
  • Functional cookies. These cookies allow us to provide increased functionality and personalization on our digital properties. For example, they help to remember choices you make, such as language settings and region selection and allow us to customize our digital content for you and enable features within our digital properties such as videos.
  • Advertising cookies. These cookies are used by us and our digital advertising partners, who are authorized to place cookies on our digital properties with our permission. Advertising cookies collect information about your visit to our digital properties and elsewhere on the internet to help understand what areas of our digital content are of interest to you. These cookies may also identify which other websites may have directed you to our digital content. Advertising cookies can help us or our partners personalize our marketing to you, including via online advertising, email, or social media.

More About Cookies

Setting Cookies and Use of Service Providers: Cookies on our digital properties may be set/placed by us, a service provider we have engaged, or our advertising partners. The cookies that are set by the site you are visiting are called first-party cookies (for example, cookies set on your browser and managed by us when you visit our website). Third-party cookies on our digital properties are set by a third-party (for example, cookies set on your browser and managed by an advertising partner when you visit our website). We may work with service providers to set first- or third-party cookies on our digital properties. These service providers may use these technologies to help us deliver our own content and advertising and compile anonymous site metrics and analytics. We do not permit any of these service providers to collect any of your personal information (sometimes also called personal data) on our digital properties for their own purposes. These service providers are subject to confidentiality agreements with us and other legal restrictions on their use or collection of any personal information.

Use of Advertising Cookies: We may use third parties, such as advertising partners, to enable us to serve you advertisements when you visit the digital properties of others. The advertising partners with whom we work do not collect identifiable information such as name, address, phone number, or email address, but, instead, they receive information through third-party cookies about your activity on our digital properties and elsewhere on the internet, together with information associated with your browser and device, such as device identifier, IP address, or identifier for advertising (IDFA). The information collected can be used to determine the types of advertising you see on other sites as well as on our digital properties.

If you are a California resident, under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the use of advertising cookies constitutes a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration, but we may sell or share personal information for targeted advertising consideration (i.e., cross-contextual behavioral advertising under the CCPA), which is considered a sale or share under the CCPA when it applies to your interaction with these types of cookies on our digital properties.

Links to Other Websites and Social Media: Our digital properties may contain links to digital properties of other parties, and that linking process may involve third-party cookies being placed on your device by those digital properties. Cookies also may be used to enable content sharing through social media networks—such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter/X, or LinkedIn share/like buttons—and will be visible to you on relevant pages of our digital content. Once you leave our digital properties, the privacy and cookie policies of the other party will apply.

Duration: How long cookies remain on your device depends on whether they are session cookies or persistent cookies. Session cookies are used to store information during a browser or other online session and expire automatically when you close your browser or mobile app. Persistent cookies are used to store information on a more permanent basis but may be set to expire automatically after a certain period of time.

Managing Cookies

Browser Settings: The browsers of most computers and other web-enabled devices may be set up to accept or reject certain types of cookies depending on elections you make in your browser settings. If you wish to amend your cookie preferences, you can do this through your browser/device settings (check the “Help” function). Some browsers have a “do not track” feature that lets you tell websites that you do not want to have your online activities tracked. At this time, we do not respond to browser “do not track” signals.

Cookie Management Tools on Various Websites: Depending on the types of cookies and applicable law, we may offer you the ability to control certain types of cookies on our websites. When this applies, you will see links at the bottom of a webpage, such as “Manage Cookies” or “Do Not Sell/Share My Personal Information,” and you may see a pop-up cookie banner at the top of the webpage you are browsing. You can manage your consent preferences by clicking on the “Manage Cookies” or “Do Not Sell/Share My Personal Information” link on applicable webpages. If you are a California resident, we also honor Global Privacy Control opt-out preference signals as a valid request to opt out of sale/sharing as required by the CCPA. To learn more about the Global Privacy Control, visit globalprivacycontrol.org.
