Hi, I'm Lok Chi Hon, a software engineer at T. Rowe Price.
How to describe myself? I would say I'm someone who is very curious, and I always look for ways to better myself or improve myself. I was actually applying for jobs during COVID. I was intimidated by, you know, these horror stories I've read online about how women in technology were treated. I didn't want them to see me a certain way. I didn't want them to see me as emotional, you know, all those bad stereotypes about women.
T. Rowe Price reached out to me, and when I first met my manager and my team, I was shocked by how amazing they were and how incredibly supportive they were. If I went to my manager, if I went to any of my team members to talk about anything that was concerning me, they would really think about it and process it.
Even if I am the only woman on my team, I'm not the only woman in my league. The intro program was designed to help fresh graduates at T. Rowe Price connect with each other. Through that, I actually found a group of amazing women—we hang out outside of work, we talk about our projects and features, and we can just be open and honest with each other.
