30-Apr-2020 - Scott Berg, Portfolio Manager,
Even though we do not believe we are experiencing a long-term economic crisis as a result of the coronavirus, in the short term, individuals and companies face an issue of financing rents and expenses. The path to full economic activity is uncertain, implying that we should employ prudent diversification and risk management through the stages of the recovery and any negative surprises, which will be part of that journey.

Fund Summary
We seek to invest in high-quality, durable businesses with sustainable growth prospects. We look for companies in attractive industries with improving fundamentals and potential for above-average and sustainable rates of earnings growth, when we believe valuations offer us high conviction, upside potential. The promotion of environmental and/or social characteristics is achieved through the fund's commitment to maintain at least 10% of the value of its portfolio invested in Sustainable Investments, as defined by the SFDR. Additionally, we apply a proprietary responsible screen (exclusion list). The manager is not constrained by the fund’s benchmark, which is used for performance comparison purposes only.

31-Oct-2024 - Scott Berg, Portfolio Manager,
Global equities sold off in October. Markets were pressured by strong economic data in the US diminishing expectations for more interest rate cuts, signs of deceleration in artificial intelligence demand, China stimulus scepticism, and geopolitical uncertainty. A strengthening US dollar versus other major currencies also weighed on returns for US-based investors. Within the portfolio, stock selection in financials, coupled with an overweight position, contributed the most to relative returns. A large Latin American digital banking platform rebounded from September following the stock’s sell-off in the previous month. We have high conviction in the company and think its highly disruptive digital banking platform can continue to gain share and even scale internationally, which provides it with a long growth runway. Conversely, stock selection in health care hurt relative results. Shares of a leading global bio-analysis company specialising in food, environmental, pharmaceutical products, and clinical diagnostics testing sold off after the company reported mixed earnings results, with worse-than-expected core organic growth, although management raised margin guidance while earnings and free cash flow guidance remained unchanged. We continue to think the company has a one-of-a-kind platform and should deliver strong, durable growth over the long term.
31-Dec-2023 - Scott Berg, Portfolio Manager,
We have an overweight position in financials. We currently have exposure to what we believe are high-quality US banks but are meaningfully underweight European and Japanese banks that broadly have more negative credit exposure. We have more exposure to insurance companies than we have typically had in the past, as an improving pricing environment and better yields on portfolio investments have created a positive near- and medium-term setup. We continue to own several emerging market financials we believe are undervalued and underappreciated and have exposure to high-quality alternative asset managers and leading capital markets companies.
