Celebrating Hispanic and Latinx Heritage
and Achievement

Each year, the United States observes Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15 by celebrating Hispanic and Latinx contributions and U.S. residents whose ancestors came from Spain, Central and South America, and the Caribbean. The mid-month start to the celebration honors the independence anniversaries of Belize, Chile, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, and Nicaragua. Although Hispanic Heritage Month has been recognized for 33 years, the achievements of this dynamic community predate the founding of the United States and have contributed significantly to the fabric of the nation.

Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Firmwide

At T. Rowe Price, our associate-led business resource groups (BRGs) offer associates of all backgrounds opportunities to engage, network, and celebrate the diversity of more than 7,000 associates worldwide. MOSAIC’s Latin heritage community is leading our annual Hispanic Heritage Month celebration, which will include thought-provoking speakers, open discussion forums, and trivia games and video challenges.

Our firm also embraces opportunities to create allies in the workplace. All associates can readily access training on cultural competency and other resources to further their diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) journey. Associates are also encouraged to participate in our BRG events and discussions, as well as to donate and volunteer their time to support nonprofit organizations that work to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion.

As one among many efforts, we are supporting the Baltimore Hispanic/Latinx community through an initiative called skillCONNECT, through which small groups of associates help local nonprofits uncover, understand, and address a business challenge. By the end of the three-hour skillCONNECT session, our volunteers provide the nonprofit with ideas, strategies, suggested resources, and a plan to help resolve the challenge.

Our Diverse Workforce

Diversity, equity, and inclusion are a top priority for T. Rowe Price—inside and outside the firm. Organizations make better decisions when there is a diverse workforce, and we are intentional about sourcing and engaging talent that brings new perspectives and strengthens our outcomes. We have invested in diverse talent recruitment and early talent development programs to ensure that we are attracting, retaining, and developing our workforce. This includes providing an environment where associates can bring their authentic selves to work, which, in turn, allows us to create greater value for our clients.

DEI as a Business Imperative

The marketplace continues to be more diverse, and we are prepared to meet the needs of savvy clients, now and in the future. We share best practices and outcomes and collaborate with other organizations to unify our DEI efforts and share insights. As a firm, we have studied the importance of financial wellness and the changing face of wealth through the lens of ethnicity and race, and our associates are encouraged to share their expertise on these topics.

We recognize changing population demographics and are launching a new Spanish-language microsite to facilitate financial wellness among our diverse retirement plan participants. This culturally relevant public website will contain a library of educational resources, such as articles and videos, to help our clients on their journey toward retirement and their future financial goals.

We also leverage our corporate voice and brand to make a positive impact on the communities in which we operate. The T. Rowe Price Foundation has supported communities for more than 30 years through global matching gifts, capacity building, and direct grants that support organizations that are making a difference in youth empowerment, racial injustice, creativity and innovation, and financial well-being. And we are making strides in our supplier diversity program to improve equity in our supply chain that drives transformative outcomes and strengthens the economic growth and well-being of minority-owned suppliers and our surrounding communities.
