Celebrating Hispanic and Latinx Heritage
Each year, the United States observes Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15 by celebrating Hispanic and Latinx contributions and U.S. residents whose ancestors came from Spain, Central and South America, and the Caribbean. The mid-month start to the celebration honors the independence anniversaries of Belize, Chile, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, and Nicaragua. Although Hispanic Heritage Month has been recognized for 33 years, the achievements of this dynamic community predate the founding of the United States and have contributed significantly to the fabric of the nation.
